I remember when my uncle gave me an old film camera as a present for my 15th birthday. It was the first time I took photos. I never looked back. That camera, and its successors, has allowed me to connect with people from all walks of life, to tell their stories.

Of course, I didn’t turn professional immediately. While I built up my photography skills, I worked at many other jobs: a car mechanic, a concierge at a five-star hotel, a buyer for a clothing company. But nothing felt right until I started calling myself a photographer, and began to build my portfolio. 

Now, I consider myself extremely fortunate. Meeting and photographing interesting people on a daily basis is what I love to do. It’s why I never take it for granted.
